Marie M. Hansen, age 94, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.Marie M. Boettcher was born July 11, 1916 in Storm Lake, Iowa the daughter of Otto and Emma (Lau) Boettcher. On July 30, 1916, Marie was baptized at the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she was later confirmed.
Growing up, she attended St. John Lutheran Church Parochial School and Storm Lake Public School.
On September 13, 1935, Marie was united in marriage to Hans Louie Hansen in Fort Dodge, Iowa. To this union no children were born.
Marie worked for a short time at Henry Fields Store and Margan Nursing Home. During World War II, she worked at Firestone in California before returning to Storm Lake due to family necessity where she then worked for Vilas, Thompson and Bilmar Turkey Plant for a total of 30 years. After retiring from Bilmar in 1981, Marie babysat for families near her home, as she loved children having none of her own.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she joined Ladies Aid and the Mission Sewing Group. When she was able, Marie attended Bible Study and pot lucks.
Those left to cherish her memory include two nieces; one nephew; extended family and many friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Louie’s twin sister, Martha; sisters: Herta Boettcher and Clara Brandow; brothers: Otto in World War II; Herman and Carl Boettcher; a nephew, Allan Boettcher; and sisters-in-law, Eula Boettcher and Mary Hansen.
