Charlene Riedemann

Charlene Riedemann, age 82, formerly of Storm Lake died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home in Des Moines. 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar, Iowa. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Charlene, the third child of Louie and Ora Schoning, was born east of Fostoria, Iowa on May 14, 1929. She graduated from Okoboji Consolidated School with the “Class of 1945”.
Charlene married Elwood “Woody” Riedemann on August 23, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Woody & Charlene worked together and built their first home in Spencer. While living in Spencer, daughters Carolyn & Sandra were born. The family moved to Storm Lake in 1955 where their son, Steve, was born.
Charlene took great pride in raising her children and keeping a clean house. She enjoyed being involved with the scouts and 4-H while the kids were growing up. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, gardening, and numerous crafts. She loved making birthday cakes for her family members. She was very creative and enjoyed working with Woody on numerous “projects”. After Woody’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling in the “Coach” and spending time visiting their children and grandchildren. 
After Woody’s death in 2006, Charlene moved to Des Moines to be closer to her son.
Charlene is survived by her children Carolyn (Bob) Adcock of Reidsville, North Carolina; Sandra (Ed) McNamara of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania; Steve (Sue) Riedemann of Van Meter, Iowa; grandchildren: Katherine McNamara; Colleen (McNamara) Ottaviani; Garrett Riedemann; and Hannah Riedemann; great grandchildren: Tierney Riedemann; and Emerson Riedemann; sisters: Lorraine Barkoff; and Leora (Richard) Riedemann; brothers: Laurence (Myrlease) Schoning; and Dennis Schoning.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Raymond and Marion; and sister, Doris Coffman.
