Michael L. Schuelke, age 52, of Alta, Iowa, died on Friday, October 31, 2008, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services for Mr. Schuelke will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008, at 1:30 PM at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Interment will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Michael L. Schuelke, the son of Louis A. and Lorene A. (Radke) Schuelke, was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on April 22, 1956. Michael was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta in 1970. Michael received his education at the Alta Community School, graduating in 1974.

Upon his graduation, Michael began full-time employment at the Alta Lumber Company where he was employed for many years. He later worked at United Building Centers in Storm Lake and the Aurelia Lumber Company in Aurelia, Iowa.

In his leisure time, Michael enjoyed being outdoors and while his health permitted, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Michael also enjoyed watching athletic events on television.

Michael’s memory will be celebrated by his family: Loren and Nancy Schuelke of Eagle Grove, Iowa; his uncles: Henry Schuelke of Storm Lake, Iowa; Leo Schuelke of Des Moines, Iowa; Edgar and LaVonne Radke and Marvin and Dorothy Radke, all of Alta, Iowa; his aunts: Marian Bennett of Des Moines, Iowa; Verna Kraemer of Storm Lake, Iowa; Ruth Radke of Alta, Iowa; Marcella Radke of Storm Lake, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
