Carter W. Brock, age 91, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Services for Mr. Brock will be held Monday, April 28, 2008 at Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Leela Prince will be officiating and the burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Sliefert Funeral Home Chapel in Sioux Rapids.

Carter Woods Brock, the son of Samuel and Rilda (Dalton) Brock was born in Somerset, Kentucky, on April 18, 1917. Carter lived his youth and received his education in Kentucky. As a young man, he worked on various farms in Kentucky and Nebraska.

On December 21,1941, Carter was united in marriage to Dorothy Cuthbert in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. This couple was blessed with three children: Ronald, Donna and Richard. Throughout their married lifetime, Carter was employed on many farms in the Gillet Grove, Rembrandt, and Sioux Rapids areas. He had also served as a custodian at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for six years. They began their retirement years in Rembrandt and later moved to Sioux Rapids in 1982. Dorothy died on February 25, 1998. Carter continued to make his home in Sioux Rapids and became a resident of the Sioux Care Center in 2006. Carter will be remembered by his family and friends as a man who enjoyed the outdoors and he especially liked to fish.

Those who will always cherish their memories of him include his children: Ronald and Judy Brock of Fullerton, Nebraska, Donna and Don Rohrer of Galesburg, Illinois and Richard and Peggy Brock of Spencer, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Carter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and several brothers and sisters.
