Kenneth A. Frye
Visitation for Mr. Frye will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First United Church of Sioux Rapids, where the family will be present. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is assisting the family with the arrangements. Friends who wish to send online condolences to the family may do so via the funeral home website: www.sliefert.com Kenneth Alan Frye was born on February 9, 1934, at Haverhill, MA, to John A. and Hilda (Bowers) Frye. Kenneth lived his youth and received his education at Spaulding High in Rochester, NH. He continued his education at the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, entering on July 20, 1953 at Annapolis, Maryland. He attained the rank of Midshipman and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1953. On December 18, 1954, Kenneth was united in marriage to Lorraine Gerda Gustafson at South Portland, Maine, and they were blessed with two sons: Kevin and Brian. Ken and Lorraine lived in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire during their life together. Ken was employed in the insurance industry for Peerless Insurance. In March of 1997, Ken and Lorraine came to make their home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Ken enjoyed gardening, cooking and could repair anything, a real do-it-yourself handyman. They were active in the Dinner Date program and Jolly Elders. While residing in Sioux Rapids, they have been affiliated with the First United Church of Sioux Rapids. Those who cherish his memory include his two sons: Kevin A. Frye of Buxton, Maine and Brian P. Frye of Linn Grove, Iowa; four grandchildren: Natalie, David, Kenneth, and Michael; three brothers: John “Jack” A. Frye of Spring Valley, California, Richard Frye of Westmoreland, New Hampshire and Paul E. Frye of Waldole, New Hampshire; one sister-in-law, Laverne Deoss of Bow, New Hampshire; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lorraine.
