Norma M. Anderson, age 96, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died January 16, 2018 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Norma Marguerite (Geisinger) Anderson was born July 27, 1921 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Oren and Fern (Samsel) Geisinger. She spent her childhood in the Cornell, Iowa area at the family farm. She attended and graduated in 1938 from the Cornell School. She started working the following month for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co in Cherokee, Iowa.

This is where she met Donald Anderson. They were married October 5, 1941 on the family farm. Shortly after, our country was at war and Donald served in the South Pacific until 1945. Donald and Norma returned to make their home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. There were blessed with three children: Judy, Paul, and Richard Todd.

Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, served on many committees and was active in Woman’s Fellowship. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and served in numerous posts. She was a member of the Little Sioux Golf and Country Club and played Ladies League. She also enjoyed playing cards with several groups and was involved in many clubs.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; two brothers: Gerald and Bruce; and one sister, Ruth Thomson.

She is survived by her children: Judith Vincent, Paul (Cheryl) Anderson, Richard Todd Anderson all of Linn Grove, Iowa; grandchildren: Chuck (Wendy) Vincnt of Sommerville, South Carolina; Beth (Kevin) Saalwaechter of Spring, Texas; Laura and Linda Anderson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Katie (Pete) Kragel of Marathon, Iowa; Aaron (Sarah) Anderson of Linn Grove, Iowa; Mark (Robin) Anderson of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Chad Anderson of Grimes, Iowa; great grandchildren: Taylor, Trev, and Tucker Kragel; Maggie, Finn, and Arlo Anderson; Miles Vincent; nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives.
