Michael Quinn, age 66, of Albert City, Iowa died December 28, 2017, at the Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of arrangements.

Michael D. Quinn, the son of Loren Angelo and Given Rita (Monte) Quinn, was born at Rock Rapids, Iowa, on January 22, 1951.   Throughout his younger life, Mike traveled with the carnival through various towns.

Mike was the father of a daughter and son, Stacy and Joshua. Most of his lifetime was spent in the Marathon and Albert City communities where he was affectionately known as “Grizz” or “Mountain Man.”  For many years, Grizz was employed at the meat packing plant in Storm Lake.  For the past 10 years due to health reasons, he was not able to work.  The Albert City community was his family and he was known as the “man about town” greeting and socializing with his friends.  You could find Grizz spending time with people in the local businesses and the gas station.  His ultimate passion and enjoyment in life was attending auctions and collecting antiques.  The Albert City community held a special place in his heart and they supported and cared for him in many ways.  Grizz was a big man with a big heart and taught the people he shared his life with many life lessons.

Grizz’s life is remembered by his children: Stacy Barnes and Joshua Quinn, both of Yankton, South Dakota, his two grandchildren: Dakota and Daisy Barnes, also of Yankton, South Dakota, his adopted family who took an active and caring role in his life: Luke and Christy Ehlers of Albert City, Iowa, and their children: Brady and Trevor, along with the many friends within the Albert City community that he loved.

Grizz was preceded in death by his parents.
