Lynn J. Bailey, age 69, of Marathon, Iowa died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa. 

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will be at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements. 

Lynn James Bailey, the son of James W. and Beata (Monkelien) Bailey was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on April 30, 1948.

He lived his youth in Marathon and received his education at the Marathon Consolidated School, graduating in 1966. 

In November of 1968, Lynn was united in marriage to Joyce Smith. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Brian, Brent, and Brad.

Throughout his lifetime, Lynn was employed as an electrician, lineman, and heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and barbecuing. Lynn treasured spending time with family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lynn’s life is celebrated by his family which include his three sons:  Brian (Michelle) Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa; Brent (Brenda) Bailey of Chandler, Arizona; and Brad (Melissa) Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren: Sebastian Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa; Lauren (Nick) Donahoe of Urbandale, Iowa; Isaac, Hannah and Caleb Bailey all of Des Moines, Iowa; William (Christina) Bailey of Spencer, Iowa; Gwyneth and Camille Bailey both of Gilbert, Arizona; Arianna Rodriguez of Chandler, Arizona; great grandchildren, Declyn and Dallyn Donahoe of Urbandale, Iowa and one more expected great grandchild; three brothers: Neil (Kay) Bailey of Elizabeth, Illinois; Wayne Bailey of Ayrshire, Iowa; Dan (Tracey) Bailey of Rembrandt, Iowa; three sisters: Beverly (Mike) McConeghey of Fairfield, Iowa; Bonnie Black (Harry Reese) of Laurens, Iowa; and Becky (Doug) Baker of Laurens, Iowa; other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara; and brother-in-law, Bob Black.
