Everett W. Glienke, age 87, of Webb, Iowa died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb. Burial will follow in the Garfield Township Cemetery in Webb. Visitation will take place Friday, October 27, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Everett was born September 1, 1930 in Alta, Iowa, the son of William Herman and Emma (Langner) Glienke. He grew up on a farm north of Storm Lake and graduated from Truesdale High School.

Everett met his future wife at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake. On March 4, 1951, Everett was united in marriage to Vera Marie Ogden at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Bovey, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born. The couple made their home in Storm Lake, while he worked for Dekalb Seed.

Everett served in the National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1951.

In 1953, the family moved to a farm southwest of Webb, where Everett farmed for nine years. Everett worked in various jobs over the years, including the Kent Feed Service for 5 years, delivered Winnebagos and drove truck making trips to Alaska and New York, Spencer Foods for 4 years, and Eaton Corporation in Spencer for 16 years. Everett retired in 1998.

After retirement, Everett had much more time to do some of his favorite things. He loved the fishing trips with Tom Gibson, dancing with Vera, golfing, bowling, and gardening. Everett and Vera enjoyed lake life at Lost Island Lake for many years with family and friends. Everett will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to talk to anyone and everyone.

Everett was a member Concordia Lutheran Church in Webb. He also served as chief of the Webb Fire Department in the 1960s.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vera Glienke of Webb, Iowa; children: Kathy (Kev) Koskovich of Correctionville, Iowa; Kenny (Penny) Glienke of Webb, Iowa; Carolyn Gibson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Dave (Sue) Glienke of Greenville, Iowa; Bill (Merry) Glienke of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren: Kristian (Heather) Andersen, Nathan (Teresa) Andersen, Lisa (Kevin) Day, Kalvin (Kelli Jo) Glienke, Jodi (Dave Singh) Gibson, Mary (Will) Smith, Katie Gibson, Kristie Nielsen, Cheyenne Lax, Will Glienke, Waylon Glienke, Weston Glienke; step grandchildren: Holly (Rod) Brown and Russell Koskovich; great grandchildren: Colton, Brady, Devin, Morgan, Marshall, Tatum, Payton, and Logan, Allison, Camie, Emma, Carter, Justina, Aleah, Carson, and Millie; step great grandchildren: Haley B., Cheyanne, Haley F., and Makenzie.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Tom Gibson; and three sisters: Evelyn Hinkeldey, Marion Colgan, and Gladys Welmerling.
