Betty "Corinne" Edwardson, age 92, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died October 6, 2017 at her home in Sioux Rapids. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Betty Corinne Simonson was born at home on January 1, 1925, the daughter of Emma (Larson) and Johnie Simonson in Sioux Rapids.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids.

Corinne attended school in Sioux Rapids where she graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1942.

On November 14, 1944, Corinne was united in marriage to Norman Edwardson in Sioux Rapids. To this union were born two daughters, Lisa Marie and Lora Lee.

Throughout the years, Corinne worked in an insurance office, lawyer’s office and for First State Bank of Sioux Rapids. She also worked on the farm and loved growing both flowers and vegetables to provide for her family. Her love of handwork was evident in all the beautiful things she made. She loved to spin wool on her grandmothers spinning wheel and made beautiful things including altar paraments for several Lutheran churches. She made the best Lefse at Christmas time!

Corinne was a faithful and active member of the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids and served on the Western Iowa Synod Council. She looked forward each week to “going quilting” with the ladies from church. Her family and church were her life. She cherished the moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a charter member of the Siouan Chapter of Questers and a member of Chapter GJ PEO. God blessed her with many talents, but mostly He blessed her with a kind and loving nature shown to all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. May God keep her in his loving care.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters: Lisa and her husband, Garold Becker of Spencer, Iowa; Lora and her husband, Steve Johnson of Linn Grove, Iowa; four grandchildren: Eric Becker; April (Becker) Rubeck and her husband, Ryan; Sarah (Johnson) Ruhs and her husband, Mike; and Lucas Johnson; three great grandchildren: Aylah Rubeck; Savannah and Sierra Ruhs; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Edwardson; brother, Wendell Simonson and a great grandson, Roman Rubeck.
