Clay Block, age 24, of Wayne, Nebraska formerly of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will follow in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Clay Mitchell Block, the son of Mitchell Block and Theresa (Kraai) Hoffman, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on March 5, 1993.  He lived his youth in the Sioux Rapids and Sac City communities.  Clay was a 2011 graduate of the East Sac High School in Sac City.

During his lifetime, Clay has had various jobs and resided in Sac City, Lake View, and Sioux Rapids.  The past five months he has lived in Wayne, Nebraska where he had been employed as a cook. 

Clay was a father to his son, Jayden, whom he loved very much. Clay enjoyed skateboarding, playing “Magic the Gathering”, and spending time with his family, friends and his son.

Clay’s life is lovingly remembered and cherished by his family which include his parents: Theresa (Tommy) Hoffman of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and Mitchell (Kyi San) Block of Storm Lake, Iowa; son, Jayden Block of Spencer, Iowa; brother, Grant Block of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; girlfriend, Samantha Langschwager, who is expecting their child in January, of Wayne, Nebraska; grandparents, Darlene Kohlmeyer of Storm Lake, Iowa; Henry (Nori) Kraai II of Slayton, Minnesota; and Marvin Block of Towner, North Dakota; uncles: Bob (Heather) Kraai of Sibley, Iowa; Henry (Jill) Kraai III of White Lake, North Carolina; step uncle, Jay Ireton of Slayton, Minnesota; aunt, Debbie (Scott) Helman of Fargo, North Dakota; cousins: Kurt, Kory, Wyatt, Morgan and Taylor, and his friends.

Clay was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Darlene Block.
